How Does the Guided Shear Gate Design Work?
From open to close the gate is guided the entire way removing any option to deflect when solids are encountered. When material is struck by the shearing tip it is fractured and angled away by the beveled edge of the gate.
This shearing and subsequent clearing of material enables a zero-leakage rating where the gate meets the primary seal. A secondary seal further eliminates any possible leakage to atmosphere.
When the gate is fully closed, the precision manufacturing forms a metal to metal seat between the gate and the valve body.
For the most severe service applications, additional gate options including a 17-4 stainless steel base material, stellite shearing tip and chrome carbide weld overlays are available. All gates are sized to handle MSS-SP135 standards which incorporate API 598 test pressures.
