DSS Pinch Valves

Pinch valves control or shut off the flow of media by pinching or squeezing flexible, disposable elastomer sleeves. Solenoid-operated pinch valves use electric current to open and close, whereas pneumatic pinch valves operate with compressed air.

DSS Valves offers a range of pinch valves designed for flow shut-off and control in applications with abrasive and corrosive slurries, primarily in the Mining, Chemical, Pulp & Paper, Power, Wastewater, and Cement & Ceramic industries.

Closed Body Control Pinch Valve

The DSS Closed Body Control Pinch Valve has a heavy-duty enclosed body with a bore center lineclosure design. It utilizes elastomer sleeves for flow shut-off and control in applications with abrasive and corrosive slurries. The maintenance free sleeve is the only part of the valve in contact with the media while the valve’s enclosed construction serves to shield the sleeve from environmental factors, preventing premature wear.

  • Bi-directional operation, both for on/off and throttling service.

Closed Body Pinch Valve

The DSS Closed Body Pinch Valve features a two-cast part body design for installation between flanges, this robust configuration is purpose-built for heavy-duty applications. Its enclosed construction serves to shield the sleeve from environmental factors, preventing premature wear. The sleeve is the only part in contact with the media (no other mechanical parts are required), and it is a maintenance free part.

The valve comes standard in ductile iron, with the option for alternative materials or fabricated construction available upon request.

Open Frame Pinch Valve

The DSS Open Frame Pinch Valves’ unique one-piece stem eliminates friction and wear typically found in other two-piece stem designs, while the quick release guide rails facilitate easy removal for fast maintenance and sleeve replacement. These heavy-duty, full bore and/or cone sleeve valves employ elastomer sleeves for flow shutoff and control in applications with abrasive and corrosive slurries.

Air Pinch Valve

Comprised of two identical half-cast or fabricated bodies and a rubber sleeve, along with gaskets to prevent air leakage from the housing, the DSS Air Pinch Valve ensures a secure seal. It has a straightforward and dependable on/off valve design intended for various process applications.
Closure is achieved by introducing air fluid directly into the valve body. To close the sleeve, a differential pressure of 35–40 psi above the line pressure is required. The rubber sleeve offers a bidirectional drop-tight seal.

  • Tube and shell design, bidirectional operation for on/off low pressure applications in which housing acts as a built-in actuator.
  • Flanges tapped for ANSI 125/150 lb or DIN drilling.
  • Bodies: Cast iron and fabricated Steel. Aluminum available.
  • Sleeve materials: PGR, EPDM, Neoprene®, Buna-N® and others available upon request.
  • Rugged, lightweight and economical for various applications.
  • 100% full port eliminates clogging and turbulence as well as generating low pressure drops.
  • Automation is inexpensive and can operate as a non-critical control valve.
  • Rubber sleeve is the only part exposed to the process fluid.

DSS Pinch Valve Sleeves provide outstanding performance, especially when dealing with flow media exhibiting high abrasion characteristics. DSS Valves also offers sizing selection assistance, analysis application improvement proposals, and troubleshooting — all in the effort to increase the lifespan of the sleeve.

  • Size: 1″– 48″ (other sizes and materials available).
  • Type: Full Port, Cone, Cone Funnel, High Pressure.
  • Materials of construction: PGR, EPDM, SBR, Neoprene®, Buna-N®, Viton™, and Teflon™ liner.
  • Sleeve wear sensor with communication module available.

Spring Return Linear Pneumatic Actuators

Spring Return Actuators, also referred to as single acting actuators or mechanical fail safe actuators are a positive way to mechanically open or close a process valve upon loss of air pressure and/or electricity. These types of actuators are carefully calculated and designed by actuator manufacturers in conjunction with the valve manufacturer and their distributors in order to retrieve the specific information of the installation, application parameters, and thrust requirements.

  • When a fail-safe feature is required, spring return cylinders are a simple solution.
  • Mechanical spring actuators are ideal for applications when the process valve is required, for any reason, to fully close or fully open if input pressure is removed by the control or lost by accident.
